The Arab Basketball National Teams Championship for Youth Begins Today in Cairo

The Arab Basketball National Teams Championship begins this Thursday in its nineteenth version, in El-Zohour Club venue in Cairo, with the participation of Egypt, the organizing country, Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and Algeria. The first day compromises three games; Kuwait vs. Algeria at 3 p.m. (EGY), followed by Emirates vs. Qatar at 5 p.m., and later Saudi Arabia vs. Egypt at 7 p.m. The preliminary continues until the 19th of the present month, whereas the championship is to be ended on Thursday the 21st of the same month, where the team coming in the third place of the preliminary plays against the team of the fourth place, and that of the first place plays against the second in order to win the cup of the championship. Yesterday evening, the draw of the championship was held in the Engineering Authority Guest House, as being the delegations' place of accommodation, in the presence of Dr. Magdy Abu-Frekha, Vice Chairman of the Arab Basketball Federation and the Chairman of the Egyptian Basketball Federation, Abdelrahman El-Mosaad, Vice Chairman of the Arab Basketball Federation and the head of the Championship Technical Committee, as well as Brigadier/ Abdallah Shalabi, General Secretary of the Arab Basketball Federation, Ehab Mohsen, the member of the Egyptian Basketball Federation and the Manager of the Championship, in addition to Sherif Zaki, the Manager of the Arab Federation; and Ayman Qasim, the Financial Manager of the Federation. It is worth mentioning that Egypt has won the title ten times, succeeded by Syria winning the title four times.
